US Supreme Court (Supreme Court ) overturning the decision in the Roe v. Wade case to nullify the constitutional right of women to have an abortion, which has led to continuous protests across the country. Meanwhile, a case has come to the fore in Ohio, which has made headlines all over the world. Actually, a 10-year-old girl is a rape victim and she is 6 weeks pregnant. She became ineligible for an abortion in her state, after which she was forced to travel to Indiana.
The rape victim’s case came three days after the court overturned a nationwide right to end abortion. Indianapolis obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Caitlin Barnard said she had received a call from a colleague doctor in Ohio who treats child abuse victims and asked for help. Indiana lawmakers have yet to ban abortion, but they are likely to do so when a special session of the state legislature is convened later this month.
Abortion doctors say they are seeing a rapid increase in the number of patients coming to their clinics for abortions from neighboring states. Recently, the Texas Supreme Court stayed a lower court order that said clinics could continue to perform abortions. The US Supreme Court ordered all the provinces to implement abortion laws according to their convenience.
Doctors are sending patients back home
However, it was not immediately clear whether the Texas clinics, which resumed seeing patients this week, would close their services again. The next hearing on this matter is to be held at the end of this month. Texas clinics repatriating patients who had undergone abortions, rescheduled patients, and now potentially canceling rescheduled patient visits—all within a week. This has created a situation of doubt among the people of the country. There is a huge protest in America regarding the abortion ban. People are protesting by taking to the streets. US President Joe Biden has described the court’s decision as destabilizing and says that it does not affect America’s position on the world stage.
