Mumbai: In a T20 cricket match, although the batsmen make the most headlines, but the power of the bowlers is also seen. There are some bowlers who become trouble for the batsmen with their accuracy. Nevertheless, no matter how good a bowler’s day is, it is not easy for him to get a maiden over. Even if one maiden comes, then the second maiden happens only occasionally. West Indies veteran all-rounder Hayley Mathews has done this and that too in a big final. While playing for Mumbai Indians in the final of the Women’s Premier League, Mathews bowled in such a way that not only surprised everyone, but also took Delhi’s breath away.
Mumbai, facing Delhi Capitals in the final of the first season of WPL, bowled first. Batting first, the Delhi team could score only 131 runs in the final played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, out of which 36 runs came in the last two overs only. That is, the condition of Delhi was very bad in the 18 overs before that. Delhi had lost 9 wickets in just 16 overs and the score was only 79 runs.
Mathews’s astonishing spell in the final
Mathews was the biggest star in Delhi’s condition. The right-arm spinner wreaked such havoc in Delhi in the middle overs that on the one hand it became difficult for him to score runs and on the other hand he also lost wickets. Mathews bowled 4 overs in such a big and pressure-filled final match, out of which 2 overs were maidens. The most amazing thing is that Mathews spent only 5 runs and took 3 wickets.
Mathews got the wickets of Jess Johnson, Minnu Mani and Tania Bhatia. During this, Mathews also took a sensational catch by diving Johnson on his own ball.
If at once you don’t succeed… well, just be Hayley Matthews!

Most wickets in WPL
Along with these 3 wickets, Mathews also became the highest wicket-taker in the tournament. Mathews got 16 wickets in 10 matches and equaled Sophie Ecclestone. However, due to the better economy rate, Mathews pushed the UP Warriors bowler to the second position. Mathews, however, could not do much with the bat in this match and was dismissed after scoring 13 runs.
