New Delhi. New Zealand badly defeated Sri Lanka in the first ODI. The entire Sri Lankan team was reduced to 76 runs in response to the target of 275 runs given by the Kiwi team. Batting first, the New Zealand team scored 274 runs. In response, the Sri Lankan batsmen succumbed to the Kiwi attack and were all out for 76 runs in 19.5 overs. The hero of New Zealand’s victory was Henry Shipley, who took 5 wickets for 31 runs.
