I am not a cricket lover, so many times whenever there is talk about cricket, one thing is told to me that you will not understand… Yes, it is true that I do not understand the tricks of cricket. But one thing which is understood is that when it comes to the country, there is no need to understand anything. A passion fills automatically in the hearts. Kabir Khan’s film 83 fills the heart of every countryman like this. If it is said that there is a drop of blood, when the World Cup has come to the country, then it will not be wrong to say that. Why are we saying this, you will know for yourself when you watch the film.

We may not have been able to witness the World Cup won by the Indian cricket team in 1983, but through the film 83, Kabir Khan gave us that opportunity to live that moment through the silver screen. Now how successful Kabir Khan has been in this, you will know this only after watching the film. At present, there are only a few days left for the release of this film and if you are preparing to watch this film by booking in advance, then before that read the review of this film here.

What is the story of the film?

Cricket World was hosted by England in 1983. The responsibility of captaincy of the Indian cricket team was entrusted to young player Kapil Dev. He led a team that was first viewed as an underdog (a group of individuals who lack the ability) and then that same team won the country’s first World Cup title in 1983. Kabir Khan’s ’83’ encapsulates the journey of this World Cup winning team, which taught the nation to believe and stand firm. The story of the film is such, which depicts the Indian cricket team creating history of victory in the 1983 World Cup. The results of the Grand Final of the World Cup are written in books, but Kabir Khan has tried to convey many stories and tales during the journey of the World Cup to the audience through this film.

There is no doubt that along with the cine lovers, this film is going to be liked by the cricket lovers as well. In the first few minutes of the film, the characters of the film are introduced, that too using the passport sequence. During this, dialogues and conversations are also heard, in which it is being said that Indians do not believe that India will win the World Cup. At this moment one thing will click in your mind that this film not only brings back memories of World Cup won in 1983, but this film is also about getting honours.

As the film progresses, you will try to connect with it. If you are born after 83, then for once you might have realized that when the World Cup was won, why were you not present to witness that moment. That’s what I felt. There is emotion in every scene of the film. There is one thing which touches the heart. Real visuals have also been inserted at many places in the film. Like that innings of Kapil Dev when he made a world record. Apart from this, one scene when Sandeep Patil and Kapil Dev are batting, the spectators run on the field. A scene more real was shown, when Dilip is injured and he bleeds a lot.

There are many such real scenes, which have been shown by Kabir Singh in his film. Kabir Khan has filled colors in every player through emotion, which makes him a different team. We can hardly imagine that Krishnamachari Srikkanth (Jiva) can even crack jokes. We didn’t expect that at all. The humor he has put in the film with his accent is amazing. Yashpal Sharma aka Jatin Sarna, Amy Virk aka Baliwinder Sandhu and Hardy Sandhu as Madan Lal, all of them have put a different life into the film. The talking style of these people even at serious times makes 83 very attractive and watchable.

Apart from this, there is a scene between Kapil Dev and Mohinder Amarnath (Saqib Saleem), in which there is no conversation between the two, but the way both of them give looks to each other, there is no need to say anything by speaking anywhere. Both understand each other’s things only by giving looks. This is also the power of the film’s sharp and tight screenplay. You will also get to see glimpses of real Kapil Dev and Mohinder Amarnath in the film. Mohinder Amarnath plays his father Lala Amarnath in the film.

What’s good about the movie?

The best feature of this film is that the film does not move forward giving importance to any one artist. Every character in the film is the life of this film. Then why should they become supporting actors playing even small roles. Some scenes of the film are quite amazing. Like when Dileep gets injured by the ball of a West Indies bowler at one place, then the whole Indian team gets angry. Sandeep Patil bats brilliantly despite suffering a hand injury and Mohinder Amarnath also shows his full strength.

Apart from this, many dialogues of the film are also good. As Kapil Dev aka Ranveer Singh is talking to Indian team manager PR Man Singh aka Pankaj Tripathi at one place regarding the match, Man Singh explains to him that it is okay. Then Kapil says – I did not come here to do so much… In this scene he says to his team – playing well will not do, now everyone will have to play ahead of their position. At the same time, in one scene, some newspapers write something in the criticism of the Indian team, in which some people of the team ask Kapil Dev to answer, then Kapil tells them that our cricket will have to give our answer.

At the same time, when it comes to acting, every artist has been seen doing justice to his character. Everyone has lived their character well, the result of which is that it makes the film very strong. The best in the film is Pankaj Tripathi, whose Hyderabadi accent is tremendous. At the same time, in many places you will definitely see a glimpse of Kapil Dev in Ranveer Singh. Apart from these, every artist has been excellent. The songs of the film fill more enthusiasm in the audience. If you want to see this movie, then you must watch this.
