He can be a hackathon winner or a student nurtured for innovation from a global/multinational/Non-Government institution.

Referring to the scheme, AICTE President Anil Sahasrabuddhe said that the students full of creative skills and talented (Gifted StudentsThe need to identify ) and promote innovation was felt for a long time and in the absence of a suitable environment, the talent of the meritorious students could not come to the fore. He said that emphasis has also been laid on promoting skill development and creativity in the new National Education Policy. What is Criteria?

Only Indian citizens are eligible for admission to supernumerary seats. AICTE will announce the list of eligible institutes for admitting students under this scheme on the basis of pre-determined criteria and NIRF/ARIIA ranking, NBA accreditation, past performance of the institute, capacity etc. Candidates will be required to produce a Statement of Purpose and 3 Letters of Recommendation on a letterhead from the appropriate authority, clearly mentioning that he/she is a gifted child and eligible for additional seats in colleges affiliated to AICTE.
