Air India will cost the elderly and students, fare discount reduced by half

Air India has cut discounts for senior citizens and students. Tata Group’s aviation company Air India has halved the basic fare discount offered to senior citizens and students in economy class. According to the company’s website, the revised discount in the basic fare has become effective from September 29. Till now Air India was giving 50 percent discount in both these categories. However, the airline will continue to offer relaxation in basic fares in 12 different categories. According to the rules, up to 50 percent relaxation has been given in some other categories.

What is the announcement of Air India

According to the information available on Air India’s website, senior citizens and students will get 25 percent discount on the basic fare of tickets issued on or after September 29. This discount will be available on select booking category in economy cabin. The Tata group acquired loss-making Air India from the government on January 27 this year. According to the statement, citizens of the age group of 60 years and above in the country will be given a discount on rent on showing photo ID. Also, students in the age group of 12 to 26 years can get the exemption by showing the ID card issued by the college or school. For booking in advance, original documents will have to be shown at the time of check-in. If this is not done, the ticket will be canceled and the amount will be forfeited.

Apart from senior citizens and students, the categories in which the airline is giving relaxation include Army, Para Military Force, War Martyrs, families of martyrs of CRPF, Assam Rifles and Central Police Organisation, War Disabled Soldiers, Gallantry Awardees. , President’s Police Medal recipients, soldiers and officers, Arjuna Awardees and certain categories of citizens with medical problems.
