The news agency PTI cited the report of the research wing of domestic rating agency Crisil. Told An increase in average revenue per user is necessary for the industry to invest in network and spectrum, and if telecom operators do not do so, users may have to bear the consequences in the form of poor service.
After Reliance Jio entered the telecom sector and after several years of fierce competition, the industry started increasing the tariffs from December 2019.
The report says that “the top three companies are expected to see a tremendous growth of 20-25 per cent in revenue this fiscal.” It further added that after a slow growth of 5 per cent in ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) in FY2022, the figure is set to reach 15-20 per cent in FY2023.
The report further states that in the last financial year, there was a decline in the total number of subscribers as 370 million inactive users were removed. However, the three top telcos also achieved a 3 percent increase in the number of active users by adding 290 million subscribers.<!–
