Angelo Mathews scored 199 runs in the first innings of the Chittagong Test against Bangladesh. Wicket lost by Naeem Hasan, Shakib Al Hasan caught it.

Sri Lanka’s veteran batsman Angelo Mathews’ hard work went in vain when he missed out on scoring a double century on the second day of the Chittagong Test. Angelo Mathews was dismissed for 199 in the first innings of the first Test against Bangladesh. This batsman kept his peg on the crease for 397 balls, but a bad shot broke his double century.

Angelo Mathews lost the wicket of off-spinner Naeem Hasan. This right-handed batsman played a shot at square leg but the ball went straight into the hands of Shakib Al Hasan in the air. Mathews looked quite disappointed after missing a double century.

Let us tell you that Angelo Mathews is the first batsman to be dismissed for 199 in Bangladesh. Also, he is the third Sri Lankan batsman to have lost a double century by just one run. This has happened with Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara before him.

Angelo Mathews is the 12th batsman to be dismissed for 199 runs in Test cricket. Apart from this, 86 batsmen have been dismissed for 99 in Test cricket. At the same time, Martin Crowe has missed a triple century by one run.

Sri Lanka scored 397 runs in the first innings on the basis of 199 runs by Angelo Mathews. Apart from Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal played an innings of 66 runs. Kusal Mendis also scored 54 runs.
