Moderna Vaccine For Children: The pharmaceutical company Moderna has demanded from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that its COVID vaccine be approved for emergency use to be administered to children aged 12 to 17 years. Earlier in December 2020, the FDA approved this vaccine to be administered to people 18 years of age and older. However, in the recent Phase III clinical data, it has been found that no child taking this vaccine has been infected with the virus.
Moderna says that this shows the vaccine’s 100% efficacy. About four weeks ago, the vaccine of Pfizer Biontech was approved by the FDA. This vaccine will be administered to children aged 12 to 15 years. In a statement, Moderna CEO Stephen Bansal said, “We are pleased to inform that we have sought approval from the FDA of America for emergency use of the Kovid vaccine for adolescents.”
Effective in protecting from Kovid-19
He said that Moderna is a highly effective Kovid vaccine to prevent Kovid-19 and SARS-CoV-2 infection in adolescents. The company says that it has previously sought approval from Canada and the European Union to vaccinate children. So that children can also be vaccinated. The company said that it is committed to ending the Kovid-19 epidemic. Moderna included 3732 adolescents aged 12 to 17 years in the US in its research.
Vaccine is 100% effective
Half of these groups were given both doses of the vaccine at an interval of four weeks, while half of the group was given a placebo. In such a situation, it was found that the vaccine has been found to be 100 percent effective after two doses and 93 percent effective after one dose. There were few or no side effects seen. Some people have felt pain where the injection was given. This happened with adults during last year’s trial as well. While other side effects include muscle pain, headache and fatigue.
