On Thursday 23 September, Durham Cricket Club issued a statement saying that Maddinson admitted to the CDC a breach of ECB rules 3.2 and 3.3 and has therefore decided to deduct 10 championship points as punishment.

Although it has been clarified in the statement that Madinson did not do this intentionally, but it was necessary to take strict action against such acts.
