Bangladesh recently had to face defeat in the Test series against Sri Lanka and the captain has taken this decision only after this series.
Mominul Haque, the captain of the Bangladesh Test team, has resigned from his post. He has taken this decision after the recent defeat in the Test series against Sri Lanka. The website ESPNcricinfo has given this information in its report. Mominul, who has been captaining the team since 2019, was under captaincy pressure and that is why he was struggling in his batting. Under his captaincy, Bangladesh has won only three Tests while in 12 matches it has lost while two matches have been drawn.
Mominul’s average in Tests in 2022 is 2022. This year he has played only six matches. He said, when you play well, the team does not do well, then you have something to motivate them. I think it becomes difficult to captain a team when I am not scoring runs and the team is not winning. That’s why I think it is the right thing to give up the captaincy.”
want to focus on batting
Mominul said that he has to focus on his batting and hence he left the captaincy. He said, I think I should focus on my batting. It was not an easy decision. The captain has to contribute and otherwise it creates a lot of pressure. The board had asked me to continue but I don’t want to be the captain anymore.
