Along with announcing the team for the Asia Cup on Saturday, August 13, the Bangladesh Board also announced the handing over of the team to Shakib. For the last one or two months, there was confusion regarding the captaincy of the team and questions were being raised on the captaincy of Mehmudullah. After which he himself had decided to step away from the captaincy. Due to this, the board gave the captaincy of the T20 team to Nurul Hasan for the tour of Zimbabwe.
