Bharti Airtel’s mobile service revenue in the country grew by 27 per cent to Rs 18,220 crore as against Rs 14,305.6 crore in the same quarter a year ago.
The country’s giant telecom company Bharti Airtel has allotted more than 71 million equity shares to Internet giant Google at a price of Rs 734 per share. Airtel said in the information sent to the stock exchanges that this allocation has been made as part of Google’s commitment to invest one billion dollars in Airtel. This includes an equity investment of $ 700 million (about Rs 5,224 crore) in the company.
Airtel said that the special committee of directors on preferential allotment of the company, held on July 14, approved the allotment of shares of face value of Rs 5 to Google International LLC at an issue price of Rs 734 per share. A total of 7,11,76,839 equity shares have been approved for allotment. After the deal, Bharti Airtel said in a regulatory filing that Google would hold 1.2 per cent of the company’s total post-issue equity shares. The company said that Airtel’s Special Committee of Directors had approved this allocation.
According to the data for April, 2022 released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India in June, Bharti Airtel has a total subscriber base of 36,11,47,280. In April 2022, Airtel got 8,16,016 new customers. Earlier, i.e. in March 2022, the total number of Airtel customers was 36,03,31,264. On the other hand, in April 2022, the total number of customers of Reliance Jio is 40,56,76,025.
