The first transgender school named The Lahore school has been opened for the people of transgender community in Lahore city. Many types of facilities are being given to the students in this school.

The government of Pakistan’s Punjab province has opened the first transgender public school in its capital, Lahore. This decision has been taken by the Punjab government so that more transgender persons can be empowered in the society. before this, Pakistan In order to educate and teach skills to transgender persons, the Punjab government had opened three transgender schools in the province. These schools were opened in Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan. This shows that continuous steps are being taken to include transgender people in the society in Pakistan.
In these schools, free education is provided from primary to higher secondary class. Along with this, people of transgender community are given skill training in sewing, cooking and beauty make-up. The school opened in Lahore has been named ‘The Lahore School’ and it was opened on Wednesday. The Lahore school is run in two shifts. In the first shift, students are given formal education, while in the second shift, attention is paid to providing technical skills.
These facilities will be available in the school
The Punjab School Education Department said in a statement, “The Lahore school for transgenders will function in two shifts. In the first shift, students will be given formal education, while in the second shift, they will be given technical skill training. The government will provide free books, uniforms, school bags and pick and drop service.
So far 36 transgender people have been given admission in this school. The statement of the department further said that the teachers teaching in the school also come from the transgender community, while two counselors have also been kept, who help in understanding the problems of the transgender community.
There is so much population of transgenders in Lahore
Punjab province is home to 64.4 percent of the total transgender population of Pakistan. The number of transgender people in Pakistani Punjab is 6,709. These people have got their registration done. However, it is said about Lahore and its surrounding areas that allegedly 30,000 transgender people live here. Access to education is the right of every Pakistani, but transgender people face discrimination in the country and many of them struggle to find employment.
