BSNL to Start 5G Services After Completion of 4G Rollout in Entire Country

Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw gave this information to the Parliament. He informed that BSNL’s 4G services across the country including Maharashtra and Andaman and Nicobar Islands will start in 18-24 months from the placement of the purchase order. He said that after company Will start 5G services. central government BSNL For this, spectrum has been reserved in the 600 MHz, 3300 MHz and 26 GHz bands, which will be used to provide 5G services. In response to another question, Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan said that 5G services have started in 329 cities of the country.

The central government had issued spectrum allocation letters to telecom companies in August last year and asked them to prepare to launch 5G services in the country. The Telecom Department had received bids worth about Rs 1.5 lakh crore in the 5G spectrum auction. Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio have set a target of converting 150 million mobile phone users to 5G by March next year.

A recent media report quoted a letter written by PK Purwar, CMD, BSNL, to the CGMs of the concerned circles, stating, “Dt.Telecom and BSNL have held a meeting to implement the Cabinet decision regarding the revival package. The MoU envisages the company to ensure accountability by taking action against non-performers.It can be seen that in the last one year, five circles have reached near negative revenue, five circles have turned negative and three circles are in critical condition. have turned negative.” The circles with major decline in revenue for BSNL are West Bengal, Chennai, Uttar Pradesh East, Sikkim, Andaman and Nicobar, Odisha, Bihar and Karnataka.
