China has been using technology on a very limited scale for almost two decades. Shanghai has a short maglev line that runs from one of its airports to the city. Since there are no inter-city or inter-province maglev lines in China yet that can make good use of high speeds, some cities, including Shanghai and Chengdu, have begun research into this.
Traveling by train from Beijing to Shanghai at a speed of 600 kmph will take only 2.5 hours. It would be a journey of over 1,000 km (620 mi). By comparison, the journey would take 3 hours by plane and 5.5 hours by high-speed rail.
Countries ranging from Japan to Germany are also looking to build maglev networks, although high costs and incompatibility with existing track infrastructure continue to hinder rapid development.
There is no doubt that China is developing its technology very fast. But due to the effect of changing climate equation, how much this train meets the test of safety in times of sudden seasonal hit and natural calamities, it can be ascertained only in the coming time. <!–
