Power Plant Coal Stock : Warmer than expected in February and March thermal power plants Has increased the concerns because due to increase in demand for electricity, the consumption of coal kept near power plants has increased. Because of which there is a possibility of decreasing the stock of coal with them. In these last two months of the financial year, power companies usually increase their coal stock. This helps in maintaining smooth supply of electricity during the summer season, but this time due to increase in heat, the consumption of coal has increased. The Ministry of Coal had set a target of 45 million tonnes of coal stock by the end of March, whereas till March 8, the companies had only 33 million tonnes of coal stock.
