CSK vs GT IPL 2022: With this victory, Gujarat Titans have confirmed their place in the playoffs at the first two numbers. The team has got 20 points, where only LSG can reach.
The way IPL 2022 started for Chennai Super Kings, the end of the season for the team also seems to be happening in the same way. Against Gujarat Titans on Sunday, Chennai under the captaincy of MS Dhoni gave up arms very easily. Despite Rituraj Gaikwad’s half-century, Chennai, who scored only 133 runs, were easily defeated by Gujarat by 7 wickets. Experienced opener Wriddhiman Saha played a tremendous innings for Gujarat and returned only after giving victory to the team. With this, Gujarat has cemented its place in the top 2 in the playoffs, while Chennai have suffered their ninth defeat in 13 matches.
Earlier, winning the toss and opting to bat, Chennai scored 133 for five with the help of opener Rituraj Gaikwad’s (53 runs) half-century and Narayan Jagadeesan’s unbeaten 39. Gaikwad hit four fours and a six during his 49-ball innings. He shared a half-century partnership of 57 runs in 39 balls for the second wicket with Moeen Ali (21 runs, 17 balls, two sixes). After this, Jagdishan (33 balls, three fours, one six) added 48 runs for the third wicket.
CSK’s batsmen could not show their strength in this innings. In the first 10 overs, Chennai had scored 73 for two wickets but in the last 10 overs, the team could score only 60 runs for the loss of three wickets. In the last five overs, Chennai got only 24 runs, while losing three wickets. During this, not a single boundary was found. Mohammed Shami bowled brilliantly for Gujarat Titans, taking two wickets for 19 runs in four overs. Both Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore took one wicket for 31 runs each in four overs, while Alzarri Joseph took one wicket for 15 runs in three overs.
