At the age of 4, Sreeshankar was trained by his father. At that time S Murali saw the potential of his son as a runner. Sreeshankar had come under pressure

He had qualified for the Olympics with a national record of 8.26, but in the Olympics, Sreeshankar could only jump 7.69 meters and finished 24th in qualifying.
