Dearness Allowance may increase, government can take a big decision in rising inflation

In the midst of extreme inflation, the government can take a big decision on Dearness Allowance soon.  There is a possibility of increase in dearness allowance in the second half of this year.  The Union Cabinet has to take a decision in this regard.  Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh and Tripura governments have increased the dearness allowance for their employees.  31% DA has been increased to 34%.  This will benefit 7.5 lakh government employees of Madhya Pradesh.  The increase in DA of state employees has come into effect from the month of August.  In this way, in the month of September, the employees of Madhya Pradesh will get the increased amount of DA.

Inflation continues to rise since February and the prices of essential commodities are increasing.  There has been a constant inflation in food items.  The effect of inflation is being seen more due to GST.  It has been said in some media reports that it is possible to increase the DA of central employees by 3 to 4 percent.

On the other hand, there is also a possibility of increasing the DA of central government employees. In view of the increase in the inflation rate, the dearness allowance of the central government employees may increase. This announcement was in accordance with the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission (7th pay commission).  At that time DA was 17 percent which was increased to 28 percent.  After this, DA was increased in October 2021 as well.

After this, DA was increased in October 2021 as well.

In October last year, DA was increased by 3%.  Its benefit was given to all central employees.  The special thing is that this increase was implemented from July 1, 2021.  After this decision, central employees started getting DA at the rate of 31%.  Dearness Allowance at the rate of 31 percent was implemented with effect from July 1, 2021.  After this, in January 2022, an increase of 3 percent was made and now the allowance is being given at the rate of 34 percent.  According to the recommendation of the Seventh Pay Commission, the benefit of DA is being given to the central employees.

In October last year, DA was increased by 3%. Its benefit was given to all central employees. The special thing is that this increase was implemented from July 1, 2021. After this decision, central employees started getting DA at the rate of 31%. Dearness Allowance at the rate of 31 percent was implemented with effect from July 1, 2021. After this, in January 2022, it was increased by 3% and now the allowance is being given at the rate of 34%. According to the recommendation of the Seventh Pay Commission, the benefit of DA is being given to the central employees.

Like DA, pensioners of the central government are being given the benefit of DR i.e. dearness relief.  Along with DA, the government also announces an increase in DR for pensioners.  For DA and DR, the government applies the basic pay formula.  Employees and pensioners get the benefit of allowance and dearness relief on the basis of basic pay.  Basic pay is determined on the basis of 7th Pay Commission matrix.  This does not include any special pay.  47.68 lakh central employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners get the benefit of DA.

For DA and DR, the government applies the basic pay formula. Employees and pensioners get the benefit of allowance and dearness relief on the basis of basic pay.
