Apart from this, another reform in the pension system has been done to remove the ‘Special Regime’. This facility allows many people working in the government sector to retire early. At the same time, the number of working years has been increased to 43 to get full pension.
1.2 million people took to the streets of France
The people there have disliked this pension reform of the French government. In fact, people have come out on the streets of France since January 31 regarding this. But on March 16, when Emmanuel Macron’s government tried to forcefully implement this reform using the powers of ‘Article 49.3’, the protest turned violent.

More than one million people took to the streets in a single day on the streets of France. On the night of 23 March, 400 people were arrested in Paris, Bordeaux and Rennes.
