Famous composer Ravindra Jain gave Suresh Wadkar a break in films, the first song sung in ‘Paheli’

Suresh Wadkar also sang many devotional songs. Suresh Wadkar has also received many awards, in which the highest award given by the Government of India is Padma Shri.

Suresh Wadkar His full name is Suresh Ishwar Wadkar. Born on 7 August 1955 in a middle-class family in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, Suresh Wadkar is a famous playback singer of Bollywood. His father Ishwar Wadkar used to work in a cloth mill. He was very fond of singing. And his mother used to cook food for the mill workers. Apart from Hindi, he has also sung many songs for Marathi, Bhojpuri, Odia, Bhajan and Konkani films. Today he is celebrating his 67th birthday.

Suresh Wadkar worked as a music teacher

In 1968, when Suresh Wadkar was just 13 years old, Jialal Vasant encouraged him to work towards the “Prabhakar” certificate offered by Prayag Sangeet Samiti, as it was equivalent to B.Ed. and qualifies the awardee to teach professionally. Suresh Wadkar completed Prabhakar and joined Arya Vidya Mandir in Mumbai as a music teacher. Suresh Wadkar is married to classical singer Padma with whom he has two daughters.

Ravindra Jain gave a break to Suresh Wadkar

He has mentioned in many of his interviews that the one who gave him a break in the film industry is Ravindra Jain, whom he affectionately calls Dadu. In the year 1976, Sures Wadkar also participated in the Sur-Singer Competition. Not only this, he was also the winner of this show. Ravindra Jain and Jaidev were the judges of this show. Ravindra Jain had said in the beginning of the show that whoever wins this show, I will give him the first break. And according to his promise, he gave Suresh Wadkar a chance to sing the song ‘Jhilmil Jhilmil Vrushti Pade Tapur Tupur’ from his 1977 Rajshri Productions film ‘Paheli’. After this, for the 1978 film ‘Gaman’, Jaidev operated Suresh Wadkar for the song ‘Sene Mein Jalan’.

Lata Mangeshkar gave a lot of support in career

After this Suresh Wadkar never looked back. Suresh Wadkar, who gave mother status to the music queen Lata Mangeshkar, said during an interview that, ‘Didi helped me a lot to get me work in films. Had it not been for her, I probably would not have stood at this place today. Lata Mangeshkar was very impressed by Suresh Wadkar’s voice. He sent them to Laxmikant-Pyarelal and Kalyanji-Anandji. Laxmikant-Pyarelal were also so impressed with Suresh Wadkar’s voice that they gave him a chance to sing with Lata Mangeshkar. In the 1981 film ‘Krodhi’, he got a chance to sing the song ‘Chal Chameli Bagh Mein’ with Lata Mangeshkar.

Songs sung in many best movies which became hits

Suresh Wadkar had already established his feet in the industry by then. After this, he sang songs in many films which proved to be quite a hit. In these films, we sang songs for Paanch, Pyaasa Sawan, Prem Rog, Heena, Prem Granth, Bol Radha Bol, Vijay, Ram Teri Ganga Maili and Parinda.

Prior to this, he was given the National Award for Best Playback Singer in the year 2011 for the song ‘Hey Bhaskara Kshitijavari Ya’ from the Marathi film ‘Mee Sindhutai Sapkal’.
