A source said, “He (Subbanna) was admitted to Jayadeva Hospital in the city, where he passed away.” There is one son and one daughter in his family. Let us tell you that Subbanna was the first Kannada language singer, who was given the National Award (1978) for playback singing. He was given this award for the song ‘Kadu Kudure Odi Banditta’ sung by him in the film ‘Kadu Kudure’.
Subbana was known for his extensive contribution to the world of Kannada Sugam Sangeet (Light Music). Before venturing into music, Subbana also worked as a lawyer and a notary. Subbana composed ragas for the poems of famous Kannada poets Kuvempu (KV Puttappa), Da Ra Bendre, KS Narasimha Swamy, GS Shivarudrappa and others and took that poem to the general public. Born on 14 December 1938, Subanna has received many awards and honors for his significant contribution to Sugam Sangeet.
