Nusrat sahib was forbidden by his father for qawwali

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s father Ustad Fateh Ali Khan Sahab had forbade him from coming to the field of Qawwali. Actually, the reason behind doing this was that he wanted to break the 600-year-old tradition of his family, but this could not happen and Nusrat Sahib also came in the field of Qawwali. But when his father heard Nusrat’s voice and his qawwali, he had to believe that Nusrat’s voice was a gift from God and he could not stop her from singing again. Sung for the first time at a family qawwali party

At the young age of just 15, Nusrat sahib gave a performance in his father’s chelam. He also headed the family qawwali party held in the year 1971. For this he retained the family legacy of Sargam, Khayal and Rhythm. In 1980, he was signed by Oriental Star Agencies based in Birmingham, England. Nusrat Sahab released his movie score and album in Europe, India, Japan, Pakistan and America. Apart from this, he also collaborated with the artists of Western. He gave his performance in more than 40 countries.

He also lent his voice in his film with Peter Gabriel there.

Has been nominated for Grammy Award twice

In the year 1997, it was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Folk Album and Best World Music Album. He was given the Music Prize by UNESCO in the year 1995. Apart from this, he got many prizes in his life.
