Food safety monitoring body FSSAI has made several rules for food business operators, which they are required to follow. Failure to do so can be very difficult for the operators. On Tuesday itself, FSSAI has suspended the licenses of 15 food business operators for non-compliance with the rules. FSSAI has taken this action in Kerala and this action has been taken against those who failed to comply with the required mandatory security audit.
It is being told that the organization had informed the food business operators several times and was reminded. However, the food operators did not take any action, after which FSSAI took this action. By the way, let us tell you that in order to strengthen the food safety monitoring system, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed to conduct audits of Food Business Operators (FBOs) through private auditing agencies. Since then audit has become mandatory.
Also, action has been taken by FSSI on those institutions which are not following the rules related to audit. If you do food business operator related work, then you should keep in mind the rules of audit so that you will not have any problem. Because like Food Safety and Standards (Food Safety Auditing) Regulations 2018, third party food safety audit has been made mandatory in 6 high risk category of business and now it is necessary to comply.
Where has the action taken place?
It is reported that 15 FBOs belonging to Kerala region have not conducted food safety audit by any third party, after which action was taken. These FBOs are spread over Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Kannur, Malappuram, Wayanad and Palakkad. FSSAI licenses of 15 food businesses spread in these areas have been suspended with effect from September 13.
