Adani Wilmar has acquired famous rice brand Kohinoor. After this acquisition, Adani Wilmar’s presence in the FMCG food segment will be strengthened. Gautam Adani’s focus is on strengthening the staples segment.
Adani Wilmar ,Adani WilmarConsolidating its stake in the FMCG business and especially in Basmati rice, the famous Basmati rice brand Kohinoor (Kohinoor) is acquired. It was said on behalf of the company that after this agreement, Adani will have exclusive rights over the Kohinoor rice brand. Apart from this, Adani will also have rights on ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat curries. Adani Wilmar will now have the right over all the food items that come under the name Kohinoor. Adani Group wants to strengthen its stake in the consumer staples segment. Staples contributes 11 per cent to its business.
Commenting on the acquisition, Angush Mallick, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Adani Wilmar said, “We welcome Kohinoor to the Fortune brand family. Kohinoor is a brand of trust and taste that is loved by the consumers of India. This acquisition has been done in line with the future plans of the company. The company wants to expand its presence in the food product segment. Mallick said that there is still a lot of growth left in the packaged food segment. The Kohinoor brand will strengthen the company’s presence in the food FMCG segment.
Contest will be strong in FMCG food segment
After this acquisition, the portfolio of Adani Wilmar Limited will be strengthened in the premium food segment. Kohinoor is a well known brand in our country. Talking about the product category, its Basmati rice comes in the premium range. The Charminar brand comes in the affordable category. The Trophy brand falls in the HORECA segment. Horeka is called the food service sector, which prepares and serves food and beverages. This mainly includes hotels, restaurants and catering business.
