Expressed confidence in Rohit-KL as opening
The former cricketer has selected KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma as openers against Pakistan in this team. He has placed Indian team captain Virat Kohli at number three. At number four, he has chosen hitting batsman Suryakumar Yadav. Who has made his debut for India at the international level this year. At number 5, he has given place to Indian wicketkeeper and batsman Rishabh Pant.
Preference given to Pandya and Jadeja as all-rounders
At number six, Gautam Gambhir has fielded Hardik Pandya. At number 7, he has given attention to Ravindra Jadeja. At the 8th place, he has included Indian team’s fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar in his team. At number 9, the former cricketer has chosen mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy. Mohammed Shami has been fielded at number 10, while Jasprit Bumrah has been dropped at number 11.
Varun Chakraborty was included after leaving Ashwin
At present, as a spinner, Gautam Gambhir has not included veteran star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in his playing XI. For this he has taken only Varun. He has given importance to Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja in his team as all-rounders. During the team selection, the former cricketer also said that if Shardul Thakur was a part of the main squad, he would have chosen him in place of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. But, Shardul has been selected as a reserve player in this World Cup.
