This information has been received from the latest figures of employees kept on fixed wages (payroll). According to provisional payroll data of EPFO, 13.95 lakh subscribers were added in November last year. This is 2.85 lakh or 25.65 percent more than in October 2021.

The Labor Ministry said in a statement on Thursday that if compared on an annual basis, there has been an increase of 3.84 lakh in the number of subscribers. EPFO had net added 10.11 lakh subscribers in November 2020. These figures give information about the status of organized employment in the country.

8.28 lakh members joined for the first time

Out of the total 13.95 subscribers added in November 2021, 8.28 lakh members have come under the social security cover of EPFO ​​for the first time. Apart from this, about 5.67 lakh subscribers have exited EPFO ​​and rejoined it by changing jobs within the establishments covered by the Employees’ Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952.

The statement said that these shareholders had decided to continue with their membership even after changing jobs. According to payroll data, if compared by age, in November 2021, the maximum number of 3.64 lakh subscribers in the age group of 22-25 joined EPFO. At the same time, the number of shareholders increased by 2.81 lakh in the age group of 18-21 years. The share of the age group of 18 to 25 years in the increase of total shareholders in November 2021 has been 46.20 percent.

Most of the subscribers connected with these states

Comparison of data at all India level shows that Maharashtra, Haryana, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka accounted for the largest share of new subscribers. A total of 8.46 lakh new subscribers were added in these states, which works out to about 60.60 percent of the total increase. The number of women added in November was 2.95 lakh, which is 59,005 more than in October 2021.

Let us tell you that in the winter session of Parliament, MP Dharamvir Singh had asked the Labor and Employment Minister many questions including state-wise figures regarding unemployment, schemes launched by the government for employment generation. Union Minister of State for Labor and Employment Rameshwar Teli gave a written reply to the questions related to unemployment by the MP and released state-wise unemployment figures. According to government data, during the year 2019-20, Nagaland had the highest unemployment rate of 25.7 percent, while Ladakh had the lowest unemployment rate of 0.1 percent during the same period.
