What is ODOP
Many districts of the country are famous for a particular product. Like the perfume of Kannauj, silk sarees of Banaras and tea from Darjeeling, the government has decided to develop the products of these districts as brands. And special assistance has been given to the businessmen associated with the major product of every district. This scheme has been started by Prime Minister Modi and comes under the National Livelihood Mission. According to the government, the objective of this scheme is to achieve equal development in all the districts of the country and for that, by promoting the most special products of these districts in the country and abroad, to find new sources of income. Along with this, by developing the handicrafts and handicrafts and traditional industries of the states, new opportunities for export have to be found.

The scheme covers a range of products including Araku Coffee from Visakhapatnam, Oranges from West Siang and Lower Dibang Valley of Arunachal Pradesh, Silk Textiles from Varanasi, Iron Crafts from Bastar, Bandhani from Jamnagar, Mushrooms from Solan, Nilgiris and Tea from Darjeeling, Aligarh locks, Chitrakoot girl toys, Firozabad bangles etc. are included.
