IIT New Courses 2023: Indian Institute of Technology ,IIT, Jammu has started PG Diploma in Cyber Security. The course has been done in collaboration with IIT Jammu and Timespro. In the course, students will be taught to identify cyber threats, cyber security, data breaches, cloud and network security etc.
Speaking on the announcement, Professor Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu, said that this course is an important step towards skilling the students so that they can pursue a career in cyber security.

Citing reports, IIT Jammu said that by 2025, global cybercrime losses are estimated to cost $10.5 trillion annually. It also said that rapid digitization has increased the demand for cyber security professionals.
What is syllabus?
The course will cover topics such as introduction to cryptography, computer networking fundamentals, operating system fundamentals, web applications and network security, multimedia and digital forensics.

One year course
As per the released notification, the course will be conducted through Interactive Learning (IL) platform and will be in Direct-to-Device (D2D) mode. Which also includes a six-day campus immersion session during the course. The duration of the course is 12 months. Plus it includes over 100 hours of self-learning.

At present, the cases of cyber attacks and hacking are increasing, which remain a major threat to security. After completing this course, many career paths open up for ethical hackers and cyber security.
