Of course Rohit doesn’t have fracture but his injury is deep. He himself said this in the post match presentation. But, after that, the head coach of the team, Rahul Dravid, who came to the press conference, did not look confident about Rohit’s quick recovery from injury or his recovery before the Test series.

Dravid said, “It is certain that Rohit is not playing the next match. Can’t say what will happen next. At present, Rohit is going to Mumbai for better treatment. He will meet experts there and then let’s see what happens. But, he will return for the Test match, I am not sure about it.

Two things are clear from this statement of Rahul Dravid. First, Rohit Sharma will get his treatment done in Mumbai. Second, there is suspense on his playing Test matches. Now there is only one answer to these two things and that is KL Rahul. Being the vice-captain of the team, it is his responsibility to lead the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma, which he can be seen doing in the Test series after the third ODI.
