Startup India: Today’s youth want to become job providers instead of doing jobs. India is the ideal location for today’s start-up engagement group as we have nearly 85,000 registered start-ups with over 100 unicorns at a combined valuation of $350 billion. These things were said by Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region G. Kishan Reddy. He said these things at the G-20 Start-up 20 Engagement Group meeting at Taj Krishna in Hyderabad.

Addressing the program, G Kishan Reddy said that our startups are innovating, investing and inventing new products and experiences. He said that we have the potential to emerge as the third largest economy. I would also invite startups using new technologies to help preserve our rich cultural heritage and provide an immersive experience to tourists.

Addressing the delegates and participants under the theme Innovation for Amrit Kaal India @ 2047, Reddy said that in line with its theme, this G-20 under the chairmanship of India aims to set the course for acting responsibly. Registration of 85000 start-ups

Kishan Reddy also told about the start-up ecosystem in India. He said that India is the ideal destination for today’s start-up engagement group as we have around 85,000 registered start-ups with over 100 unicorns at a combined valuation of $350 billion. We are third in the world with this number. He said that through our start-ups, our youth want to become job creators instead of job seekers.

India ranked 41st in Global Innovation Index

Addressing the meeting, G Kishan Reddy also told about the various programs undertaken by the Government of India to promote the start-up ecosystem. Reddy talked about the Fund of Funds for Startups (FFS) scheme, which was launched with a corpus of $1.25 billion (Rs 10,000 crore). The government’s Startup India Seed Fund scheme, in which $60 million (Rs 455.25 crore) has been approved for 126 incubators. Reddy credited the tireless efforts of the Government of India for the jump of 41 places in the Global Innovation Index in the last 7 years.

India assumed the presidency of the G-20 on 1 December.

Let us inform that on 1 December 2022, India assumed the presidency of G-20 for a period of 1 year. During this, India will host about 1 lakh delegates from about twenty G-20 countries and 9 observer countries. During this, more than 200 meetings will be organized at 56 places in the country. Hyderabad is hosting the inception meeting of the G20 Startups 20 Engagement Group. StartUp20 Summit meetings are to be held at Gangtok and Gurgaon respectively at the end of the year.

The meeting was also attended by the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Som Prakash, G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, NITI Aayog CEO Parameswaran Iyer, officials and representatives of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Special invitees from observer countries from G-20 nations, representatives from various multilateral organizations and global and Indian startup ecosystem will also attend the event.
