Ind vs Jap Hockey Team Highlights: India still have to face South Korea and Malaysia in the Super Four stage and only then will the door of the final open.

The Indian team seems to be slowly gaining momentum in the Hockey Asia Cup 2022. After defeating Indonesia by a big margin in the last group match, the Indian team has won a tough match against Japan from the young players who got tickets to the Super Four. In their first match of Super Four, India defeated Japan 2-1. With this, India also paid for the defeat in the group stage from Japan. Manjit Singh and Pawan Rajbhar scored the goals for India. India is yet to meet South Korea and Malaysia in this round, only after which the ticket for the final will be available.

After a gap of five years, this match of the Asia Cup being held in Jakarta was between two Asian champion teams. India had won the last Asia Cup held in 2017 and came out to defend their title this time. On the other hand was Japan, which won the 2018 Asian Games gold medal. In such a situation, this competition was expected to be tough. Japan had easily defeated India 5-2 in the group stage, but this time the story and its ending was completely different.

In every quarter of this match, each team dominated, but no one could openly capitalize on their chances. This match played between some strong defense and some tough physical competition was very close. India got off to a good start and scored in the first quarter in the eighth minute. Manjeet, posted outside Japan’s circle on the left flank, came to the ball and bounced it inside D and gave India the lead while penetrating the goal.
