IND Vs SA T20 Match Report Today: South Africa not only stopped India from the record, but also achieved the biggest goal of its own T20 history.
Team India’s attempt to set a world record in the first match under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant could not be successful. Explosive batsman David Miller, who made Gujarat Titans champion with his astonishing batting in IPL 2022, dashed Pant and Team India’s aspirations to make a record. In this match filled with rain of runs at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground in Delhi, South Africa achieved the huge target of 212 runs from Team India by losing just 3 wickets and made a tremendous start in the five-match series. Apart from Miller, Rassie Van der Dussen also played an important innings and played an important role in the century partnership.
The Indian team had scored a big score, so obviously it could not be impossible for South Africa to make it too. Although the Indian team started well in this matter. The team gave the first blow to South Africa in the third over itself. Captain Tamba Bavuma was settled cheaply. Quinton de Kock also could not play a big innings, but his wicket fell in the 9th over and by then South Africa’s score was 81 runs. However, more runs came from the bat of Dwayne Pretorius. Promoted to number three, Pretorius did not let the team under pressure by hitting 29 runs in just 13 balls with the help of 4 sixes.
Earlier, Team India performed brilliantly despite the absence of their legendary batsmen and scored a record score of 211 runs for 4 wickets. Ishan Kishan, who failed to perform as expected in the IPL, proved to be an important character of the Indian innings. The 23-year-old young opener gave India strength by scoring 76 runs (11 fours, three sixes) in 48 balls. Rituraj Gaikwad (23 runs, 15 balls) played a key role in getting India off to a good start along with Ishan, who himself was not successful in IPL 2022. Ishan and Gaikwad added 51 runs in six overs of the powerplay.
Shreyas Iyer, who came after Gaikwad’s dismissal, increased the run-rate rapidly while batting aggressively with Ishan. After ten overs, India’s score was 102 for one wicket. Iyer got life on the score of 25 when Quinton de Kock missed the stumping opportunity off Maharaj. Meanwhile, Ishan completed his half-century in 37 balls with the help of nine fours and one six by hitting Maharaj for a six. Ishan strongly advised Maharaj in the next over and hit two sixes and two fours in the first four balls. He returned to the pavilion by catching Stubbs on the last ball of the over.
Shreyas could not convert a good start into a big innings and scored 36 runs in 27 balls and got bowled by Pretorius. After this, Captain Pant, along with Hardik Pandya, scored a lot of runs in the last overs for Team India. Together, between the 17th over and the 20th over, the two shared a partnership of 46 runs in 18 balls. In his first match as captain, Pant was dismissed for 29 runs in 16 balls. Hardik, who was running in great rhythm after winning the IPL title, scored an unbeaten 31 runs in just 12 balls.
