Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari told in Rajya Sabha in response to a question that there are 5,151 public EV charging stations in the country. The maximum of these are in Tamil Nadu (660). Recently, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved a policy for electric vehicles. It has been said in the policy that whoever buys a new electric vehicle in the state will get subsidy. Up to 15 percent subsidy will be given on the factory price of the new electric vehicle. This subsidy will be applicable on all types of EVs. This will include two-wheelers to electric buses. Maximum subsidy will be given to those who buy electric buses. The state government has said that a subsidy of up to Rs 20 lakh per bus will be given on the purchase of the initial 400 buses.
