“It was hot there, but we did a good job. I got two wickets. We managed to stop them at 270. It was a good score on this wicket. The only thing running through my mind was that I was dreaming of such innings. There cannot be a better way for the country to win matches than this. Rahul sir told me to play all the balls.
I have played a few innings with India A and I think they have faith in me. He told me that he thinks I am a good enough player for number 7. Hopefully I won’t have to bat in the coming matches (laughs). When 50 runs were left, I was confident that we could win. However, I took some risks later.”
Deepak Chahar and Suryakumar won everyone’s heart
In the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka, the Indian team won by 3 wickets to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Chasing 276 runs in the match, the Indian batsmen started with a destructive batting line-up. But, the openers(13) and Shikhar Dhawan (29) could not do much and the team’s score at one point was 116 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 17.6 overs.
After this, thanks to the superb 53 runs from middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav and the belligerent unbeaten 69 of Deepak Chahar, the Indian team won the almost lost match very brilliantly. In the match, Krunal Pandya scored 35 and Manish Pandey played very important innings of 37 runs. Deepak Chahar was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant all-rounder performance.
