ICC Women’s World cup 2022: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday announced a 16-member squad for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 and the upcoming limited overs series against New Zealand. Mithali Raj has been made the captain of this team, while the responsibility of vice-captaincy will be in the hands of Harmanpreet Kaur.

In the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022, Team India will start its campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on 6 March. But before that, the Indian team has to play a series of 5 ODIs and 1 T20 match against New Zealand from 11 to 24 February.
A 15-member team has been selected for the Cricket World Cup and ODI series, while a 16-member team has been selected for the only match of the T20 series, which is captained by Harmanpreet Kaur. On the other hand, Jemima Rodrigues and fast bowler Shikha Pandey have not been given a place in the team.
Both the players are going through bad form
Team India’s top-order batsman Jemimah Rodrigues did not appear at all in the 5-match ODI series played with the South Africa women’s team after the improvement in Corona’s case in the year 2021. Jemima Rodrigues in these 5 matches Could score only 22 runs. His highest score was 9 runs. After which he had to sit on the bench in the 3-match ODI series played on Australia tour.
In his place, young player Yashtika Bhatia was given a chance to play. Bhatia’s brilliant innings of 69 runs off 64 balls in the last match had won the team. The same 32-year-old fast bowler Shikha Pandey is also struggling with poor form. Since the year 2021, he has played a total of 3 ODI matches and has taken 2 wickets. Due to which young bowlers Meghna Singh and Renuka Singh have been included in the team in their place.
