In the team that India has selected for these games, six players have been selected for six weight categories. Pooja Gehlot will represent the country in the 50 kg weight category. In the 53 kg weight category, veteran female wrestler Vinesh Phogat will land on the mat. Young player Anshu Malik will try to get India a medal in the 57 kg weight category. Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik will enter the 62kg category. Divya Kakran will handle the country’s hopes in the 68 kg weight category. Pooja Dhanda will represent India in the 76 kg weight category. News agency ANI gave this information. The team has been selected after trials. The Wrestling Federation of India had organized the trials in Lucknow.

Highest expectations from Sakshi and Vinesh

India’s highest hopes of medals will be from Vinesh and Sakshi. Both of them are experienced players and they have experience of playing in all the big tournaments of the world. Sakshi has participated in two Commonwealth Games so far. Sakshi won a silver medal in the 2014 Games in Glasgow. After this, the last time when these games reached Australia’s Gold Coast, Sakshi won a bronze medal there. At the same time, Vinesh has also played two Commonwealth Games so far and has got good success in both. Vinesh was successful in winning gold medals in 2014 and 2018. Pooja Gehlot will debut

Pooja Gehlot will participate in these games for the first time. The 25-year-old has not played any major tournament at the senior level so far and will be entering the Commonwealth Games-like stage for the first time.
