New Delhi: The journey of 7 teams in IPL 2023 is over. Lucknow Super Giants became the first team to be eliminated after reaching the last stage of the tournament. Lucknow’s expensive foreign players, who managed to reach the playoffs without regular captain KL Rahul, performed well but the Indian players, especially the batsmen, could not add color to it. The most disappointed was the batsman who created a stir a year ago by hitting a century in Team India’s jersey.

The Lucknow team, playing its second season, once again had to look for a way out in the eliminator itself. In his debut season last year, Lucknow was defeated by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator match. This time he got defeated by Mumbai Indians. In this match, the team’s batting flopped badly and in front of the target of 183 runs, the whole team collapsed for 101 runs.

flopped badly in 12 innings

Now if the team makes such a small score, then obviously the entire batting unit will be responsible. Nevertheless, there was one batsman who had the most expectations in this season, but he also disappointed the most. He could not metamorphose from his first match of the season till the last i.e. eliminator. This player is- Deepak Hooda.

This season was a complete flop for Hooda, who made a place in Team India by performing strongly in the last two IPL seasons. Hooda got a chance in 12 matches but he could score only 84 runs in 12 innings. Average just 7.64 and strike rate 93.33. He hit only 3 fours and 2 sixes.

This failure of Hooda started from the first match when he could score only 17 runs against Delhi Capitals. At the same time, he could score only 15 runs in the emulator. His biggest score was only 17 runs. At the same time, in 8 innings, he could not even cross the double figure. Among the top order batsmen, he had the worst performance from Lucknow.

Lucknow had spent a huge amount

Right-handed batsman and part-time off-spinner Hooda Lucknow Bought it in the mega auction of 2022 for a substantial amount of Rs 5.75 crore. Hooda had a good last season, in which he scored 451 runs in 15 innings. After this, he also got a continuous opportunity in Team India, in which he also scored a T20 century on the tour of Ireland, while he was also selected for the T20 World Cup and got a chance to play a match.
