Chennai: Less than two weeks are left for the IPL 2023 season to begin. The tournament will begin on March 31 with the first match between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans. Even before this, however, many teams are facing problems due to injury of some of their players and new players have to be included. Chennai Super Kings, going to play the first match of the tournament, have also included a new ‘champion’, who will replace Kyle Jamieson, who was ruled out due to injury.
CSK, captained by MS Dhoni, who has won the IPL title four times, has included South African medium pacer Sisanda Magala as a replacement for Jamieson. CSK announced the inclusion of Magala in its squad through a tweet on Sunday, 19 March. Magala had registered his name in the auction held in December 2022 but then he could not find any buyer.

Champion in SA20
Now Magala has been rewarded for his strong performance in South Africa’s new T20 league SA20. Magala, who played for Sunrisers Eastern Cape, took 14 wickets in 12 matches of this tournament. He was the second most successful bowler of Sunrisers. His performance also helped Sunrisers become champions in the first season itself. Magala also took 2 wickets for 30 runs in the final. Now he has got a place in CSK at the base price of 50 lakhs.
Stan’s words came true
It is enough to tell the ability of Sisanda Magala that Dale Steyn, one of the greatest fast bowlers of South Africa, even declared himself as his fan. When Magala got a place in the South African team 2 years ago, Steyn had openly praised Magala. Even he had said then that if any bowler in any IPL team gets injured then Magala would prove to be a good replacement. Now after 2 years Stan’s words have been proved right.
Very stoked for all the new faces well see representing the Proteas
Big fan of Magala!
Great replacement for any bowling all rounder who gets injured this IPL.
Lizaard Williams has also been super impressive the last two or three seasons.
Well done men 👊
