Anti-government protests have been going on in Iran for the past several weeks and in this the former captain of Iran has also raised his voice against the government.

Shocking news has emerged from Iran amidst the Football World Cup being played in Qatar. A famous footballer who was a member of Iran’s national team has been arrested for criticizing the government. All this has happened in Iran at a time when anti-government demonstrations have been taking place across the country for several weeks for the freedom and rights of women, in which many people have died. Iranian news agencies Fars and Tasnim reported on Thursday 24 November that Ghafouri, who decided not to go for the World Cup, has been critical of Iranian officials throughout his career.
