BCCI issued a statement on Monday and informed about this.

The BCCI wrote in its statement, “The BCCI medical team has dropped Jasprit Bumrah from Team India for the ICC T20 World Cup. This decision has been taken after thorough investigation and expert opinion.”

Who is Bumrah’s replacement?

Bumrah was earlier ruled out of the three-match T20I series being played against South Africa. There have been two matches of this series and Bumrah did not play in both the matches. As soon as the news of his back injury came, it was being speculated that he might be out of the World Cup. Now the question is who will replace him in the team. The first name in this is that of Mohammed Shami. He also has experience and was also on standby for the World Cup. Shami has also not been selected in the three-match ODI series against South Africa. Apart from them, the names of Mohammad Siraj and Deepak Chahar are also there. Chahar is with Shami in stand-by but he will also take part in the ODI series against South Africa.

Regarding the replacement of Bumrah, the BCCI said that it will announce it soon. BCCI wrote in its statement, “BCCI will soon announce the replacement of Bumrah for this big tournament.”

Rahul-Sourav had expressed hope

After hearing the news of Bumrah’s injury, it was believed that Bumrah would not play the T20 World Cup. This was also said in many media reports, but BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Indian team coach Rahul Dravid, however, expressed hope that Bumrah can play in the World Cup.
