14 lakh crores of investors drowned in the market
The total market cap of all the companies listed on the BSE stood at Rs 241.34 lakh crore with the closure of business on Friday after a five-day decline. However, a week ago i.e. last Friday, the total market cap was at the level of Rs 255.17 lakh crore, that is, the value of investors’ investment decreased by Rs 13.83 lakh crore in a week. During the week, the Sensex has seen a fall of 2042 points i.e. 3.72 percent. On the other hand, Nifty closed with a fall of 629 points i.e. 3.83 percent. After 5 days of decline, the Sensex has come down to 53 thousand and Nifty 15800 level. The decline in the stock market is being seen for a long time and in the month of May itself, the Sensex and Nifty have registered a fall of 7-7 percent so far.
Where did investors lose
All sector indices have been in losses in the week. On the other hand, investors have suffered a lot in metal and power indices. Both the sector indices closed with a fall of 13-13 percent. At the same time, the BSE Telecom index has fallen 6.7 percent during the week. At the same time, the realty index has fallen by 5.8 percent during the week. On the other hand, the BSE Midcap index has fallen 5.6 percent in the broad market. On the other hand, the Smallcap index has registered a decline of 6.5 percent. The large cap index closed down 4.4 percent during this period. This week also the selling of foreign investors dominated, although domestic investors remained buyers at lower levels. During the week, FIIs sold equity worth Rs 19967 crore. DII, on the other hand, has bought equity worth Rs 18202 crore. So far in May, foreign investors have sold equity worth Rs 32701 crore, while DII has bought Rs 26735 crore during this period.
