On the first day of the finals of the ongoing World Boxing Championships in New Delhi, India’s 30-year-old boxer Sweety Bura won the gold medal in the 81 kg category, which is her second medal in the history of the World Championships.
November 24, 2014 was the day when Sweety Boora’s decision proved to be correct. The wall of China just came in front, which took away the opportunity for which he had taken a big decision a few years ago. After about 9 years, on March 25, 2023, Sweety made her dream come true by breaking the Chinese wall and the decision also proved to be correct. (Photo: PTI)
Coming from Hisar, Haryana, 30-year-old Indian boxer Sweety Boora won the 81 kg category title at the Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi on Saturday. Sweety won the gold of the World Championship for the first time by defeating China’s Wang Lina 4-3 in the final. (Photo: BFI)
Although it was not so easy for Sweety to reach here. In fact, she would not even have entered this game, if she had not been forced to leave a house in front of her. Sweety used to play Kabaddi in her childhood and had reached the state level at the junior level. However, to move forward in Kabaddi, she had to leave her home and go to another state and she was not ready for this. (Photo: Instagram/Saweety)
In such a situation, his father’s guidance came in handy. Sweety’s father Mahendra Singh was a small farmer but he showed his daughter the big way and advised her to take up boxing. This was the time when the success of Akhil Kumar and then Vijender Singh made boxing even more popular in Haryana. (Photo: Instagram/Saweety)
After this, Sweety started boxing training in his father’s fields and gradually made this game his career. The first success of his career came in 2014 in Canada, when he won the silver medal at the World Championships. Now after 9 years, he converted that silver into golden success and converted years of hard work into success. (Photo: PTI)
Sweety may have left kabaddi years ago but her connection with the game has not ended completely. Sweety married Indian Kabaddi team captain and star player Deepak Hooda only last year. (Photo: Instagram/Saweety)
