This is the second increase in the price of LPG cylinder within six weeks. Earlier on March 22, oil companies had increased the price of gas cylinders by Rs 50. From April 2021 till now, the price of LPG cylinder has increased by Rs 190.
Oil companies have officially made this increase only for non-subsidised gas cylinders. But in most cities of the country, subsidy on gas cylinders is no longer being given by the government, so buyers have to buy cylinders without subsidies. There is a provision to give 12 gas cylinders to a family on subsidy in a year.
Commercial gas cylinder price increased by Rs 102 in May
In early May, the government had also increased the price of commercial gas cylinders used in hotels and restaurants by Rs 102.50. After this increase, the price of 19 kg commercial gas cylinder in Delhi has gone up to Rs 2355.50.
