The Maharashtra government has taken a big decision today (Wednesday, 28 July). In the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, a decision has been taken to cut school fees by 15 percent. This decision has brought relief to the parents of the children. Maharashtra’s School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad gave this information in a conversation with reporters after the cabinet meeting.
School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said that the state government will bring an ordinance in two-days to cut 15 percent fees in private schools. After that it will be applicable to all schools. The cabinet meeting was held on Wednesday under the leadership of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. This decision was taken in this meeting. Varsha Gaikwad said that the way the fees of private schools have been cut in Rajasthan, on the same lines, in Maharashtra also it has been decided to cut the fees of private schools by 15 percent on the basis of Supreme Court’s direction.
Written decision will come in two to three days
School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said that a written decision in this regard would come in two to three days. The Supreme Court had ordered the Maharashtra government to cut the fees of private schools by 15 percent like in Rajasthan. Along with this, the state government was also instructed to cancel the fees increased by the schools during the Corona period. Now the state government is going to follow this direction of the court.
On July 22, the Supreme Court ordered
The Supreme Court had given this direction on July 22 to cut fees and cancel the increased fees. The court had given this direction while reprimanding the schools which marketed education and the officials and politicians who helped them. The Supreme Court had said that necessary steps should be taken within 3 weeks. Respecting the same order of the Supreme Court, it was decided to reduce the fees of private schools by 15 percent in the cabinet meeting of the state government held on Wednesday.
The state government does not decide the fees of private schools. It is not the right of the state government to fix the fees in private schools. But during the Corona period, the schools are closed under the orders of the state government. Therefore, during this period, the state government is taking the right to cut fees through an ordinance.
