Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Preview: Sunrisers are currently in the race for the playoffs and need a win against Mumbai to keep their hopes alive.
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians (SRH vs MI) will face each other at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday. In the 15th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), if the condition of these two teams is seen, then Mumbai’s team became the first team to be out of the playoff race this season, but the chances of Hyderabad are still intact, but for this the captaincy of Kane Williamson. This team will have to break the chain of defeat which has been going on from its five matches. After losing the first two matches, this team had won five consecutive matches and now has lost five matches in a row. For him the match against Mumbai is very important. A victory in this match will keep him in the race for the playoffs of IPL-2022, while defeat will spoil his work.
Hyderabad still has two matches left, which includes Mumbai’s match and if it wins both these matches, then it will reach 14 points. After that, however, he will have to depend on the results of other teams. But if Hyderabad gets defeated against Mumbai, then its journey will end because after losing in this match, if it wins in its last match as well, then it will be able to have only 12 points.
batting needs improvement
It is necessary for Hyderabad to improve its batting. Captain Williamson’s form has been a matter of concern for him. He has scored only 288 runs in 12 matches so far. During this his average has been 18.92. His fellow opener Abhishek Sharma had scored 43 runs in the last match. He needs to convert a good start into a big innings. Both of them will have to do well against Mumbai. The middle order of the team is doing better though. Rahul Tripathi, Aidan Markram, Nicholas Pooran are doing well. But consistency is needed in the batting of these three.
In the last match played against Kolkata Knight Riders, the middle order was shattered and the team was defeated by 54 runs. So all three need to do well. Along with this, Washington Sundar and Shashank Singh will also have to execute the role of finisher well for the team.
Hyderabad bowling strong
Hyderabad’s strength has been its bowling. Umran Malik is in amazing form this season while Bhuvneshwar Kumar has also bowled brilliantly. Incoming balls from Marco Yanson and T. Natarajan have been troubling the batsmen. Against Mumbai, he can become a problem for Rohit. Mumbai batsmen have to be careful about Umran. He is doing better match by match.
Mumbai will have confidence
However, Mumbai had won the last match played against Chennai Super Kings. In this match, Mumbai had piled up Chennai for 97 runs. After this victory, Mumbai’s team will be full of confidence. For Mumbai, however, the matter of concern is Rohit Sharma’s form. Along with this, his opener Ishan Kishan is also suffering from lack of consistency. Both of them will need an aggressive start. Suryakumar Yadav is out and in such a situation the responsibility of both of them has increased.
Tilak Verma has impressed this season. He is responsible for the middle order of the team. He has been doing his job well till now. Apart from him, Tim David can also become a threat to Hyderabad. Ramandeep Singh and Tristan Stubbs have to do better.
Mumbai will have to focus on bowling
Jasprit Bumrah has done well in the last matches as far as Mumbai’s bowling is concerned. Daniel Sams and Riley Meredith are also doing well but when runs are scored, they fall apart and both of them lack consistency. In the spin department, all eyes will be on Kumar Karthikeya.
