A case of rigging has come to the fore in the Uttar Pradesh Police Sub Inspector recruitment examination. UP Police SI Some candidates appearing in the recruitment examination allege that when the answer key came on December 10, 2021, many tainted candidates topped. It is alleged that many candidates claimed to get 158 and 156 marks out of 160. In the 2-hour exam, questions from Maths, General Knowledge, Reasoning and Hindi were solved in a hurry and that too almost without any mistake. Alleging malpractices in the recruitment examination, a group of some candidates also ran a Twitter campaign demanding an inquiry into it in December 2021.

The matter reached the UP Recruitment Board. The board tweeted from its Twitter handle that all the news being circulated on social media is misleading. The borj exam is conducted in a transparent manner. If anyone spreads misleading news, action will be taken against him. But, after this, on 19-20 December, the recruitment board took out a notice related to the UP SI recruitment exam. The board has written to call double the number of candidates for document verification and PST. Whereas usually such a notice is issued after the result of the examination.

Over 178 arrests

On 14 April 2022, the result of the inspector recruitment examination came. With this, the answer keys of all the examinees started going viral. Once again the demand was raised to check the fairness of the recruitment. Because, similarity was found between the answer key and the actual result. According to the candidates, the results of the people and places where there were allegations of wrongdoing, the results came in an unexpected way exactly as it was expected.

Against this, UP SI candidates started protesting from 21 April 2022 in Eco Garden, Lucknow. By giving a memorandum to the recruitment board, a demand was made to get the UP SI recruitment exam investigated. On 18 May 2022, the recruitment board called the agitating students’ representative for talks.

According to the candidates, the recruitment board listened to them, but did not give any official assurance. The recruitment board admitted that there was no disturbance in the UPSI examination, but after that the police-administration in different districts took cognizance of the viral answer key. More than 178 fake candidates were arrested and more than 65 FIRs were registered. Even in this case, it can be said that cognizance was taken of the viral posts of the agitating students alleging irregularities in the examination and raising questions. Action was also taken, but the process of recruitment examination was considered completely fine. Candidates believe that perhaps this was done to avoid getting the recruitment check done.

Demand for CBI inquiry

On June 2022, Raghavendra Pratap Singh and 49 others challenged the process of UPSI recruitment examination in the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court. The first hearing there took place on 7 June. Taking this matter seriously, the court gave a stay on the appointment letter. That is, till the final decision on the petition of the candidates does not come, then the appointment letter should not be given to anyone.

Apart from this, on 28 July 2022, in another petition of 29 other candidates, the Lucknow Bench itself had submitted an affidavit from the Recruitment Board on the steps taken for transparency and fairness in 3 weeks. However, it is being said that that affidavit has not been given yet. The candidates allege that the recruitment board is delaying in giving the affidavit on the one hand, and on the other hand is speeding up the recruitment process.

The candidates allege that this is being done deliberately, so that the entire process of recruitment is completed before the court’s decision. The candidates have named Arjun Prasad of Ballia on the allegation of irregularities in the recruitment examination. Those questioning the recruitment process claim that an FIR has been registered against Arjun Prasad for wrongdoing, but his name is there in the final result. Apart from this, a video of Nitish Kumar of Bihar giving the exam in a car went viral, while no candidate can take the exam from anywhere other than the designated center.

His name is also mentioned in the final result. Candidates fighting against the recruitment examination from road to court, say that a CBI inquiry should be conducted into the UP SI 2021 recruitment examination. These candidates are looking at this recruitment exam as a big scam. Because, from the examination to the final result, many flaws have been found. The candidates allege that the benefit of reservation was given to the candidates of other states, whereas this benefit should have been given only to the candidates of UP.
