This information has been given by the Union Health Ministry in response to a question raised in Parliament last month.
Information given in Parliament Out of total 27,483 vacancies in 14 AIIMS across the country, 23,025 posts have not been filled. Meanwhile, the ministry is examining the possibility of introducing centralized recruitment for faculty and non-faculty to overcome the shortage of personnel in the institute. In this regard, a three-member committee was formed last month under the chairmanship of Dr. VK Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog. This information has been received in an RTI reply.
How many posts of doctors are vacant in Delhi AIIMS?
At the same time, according to an RTI, 363 posts of doctors and faculty members and 1,055 posts of paramedical staff are lying vacant in Delhi AIIMS. The institute has a total sanctioned strength of 1,207 posts of doctors/faculty members as on March 21, 2023 and 8,225 posts of paramedical staff as on March 15, 2023.

employees working on contract basis
As per the details shared by the Chief Public Information Officers of the Faculty and Recruitment Cell of AIIMS Delhi, a total of 40 Doctors/Assistant Professors, 31 Nursing Officers and one Medical Physicist are working on contract basis in 24 departments of the premier institute. The data shows that none of the more than 40 departments and specialized centers have the required number of doctors.
How many posts are vacant in which department?
Based on RTI information, the maximum number of vacant posts (70) in Delhi AIIMS are in the Mother and Child Care Unit, which was partially opened in July last year. As per the information provided, the major departments with vacant posts of faculty members are Obstetrics and Gynecology (12 vacancies), Pediatrics (10), Anatomy (7), Hematology (6), Emergency Medicine (5), Pathology (5). , including gastroenterology. and Human Nutrition (4), Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (4), Physiology (4).

Posts are also vacant in National Cancer Institute
Administered by AIIMS Delhi, National Cancer Institute in Jhajjar district of Haryana has 52 vacancies. At the same time, 14 posts are vacant in the Data Cardio-Thoracic Center run by AIIMS Delhi. These include seven posts for cardiologists and four posts for cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons. There are 10 vacancies in the Center for Dental Education and Research and 14 vacancies in the Center for Neuro-Sciences. These include five posts of neurologist and three posts of neurosurgeon. A total of 13 posts of doctors are vacant in the surgical unit.
