England cricket team’s fast bowler Ollie Robinson, who debuted against him, has been banned from international cricket due to an 8-year-old social media post. After this, the ECB is investigating another player, but his name has not been revealed yet. Now the old posts of Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler have come to the fore, in which they made fun of the Indian people and it has created a ruckus.
Morgan – Butler has made fun of Indians
Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler are being accused of making fun of Indian people’s English. According to a report in Telegraph.co.uk, Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler made fun of Indians by using the word ‘sir’. You can also see this in the tweet above. Looking at Butler’s old tweet, it is confirmed that he used the word ‘Sir’ and wrote in broken English to make fun of Indians. This is from the year 2018. When Morgan used the word ‘sir’ even while congratulating Butler.
Butler played an unbeaten 94 off 53 balls for Rajasthan Royals that day. Kolkata Knight Riders’ current head coach Brendon McCullum also reacted to Morgan’s tweet and allegedly made fun of the Indians. Morgan praised Butler on Twitter, writing in broken English: ‘Butler sir, you play very good opening batting.’
Both English players are part of IPL
Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler, the captain of the limited overs team of the UK, both play in the IPL. Butler is part of Rajasthan Royals, while Morgan is the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders. However, now he can hardly take part in the UAE leg of IPL 2021, as England and Wales (ECB) has refused to send their players there.
There has been a ruckus on social media ever since such posts of Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler surfaced and now if the matter escalates, then surely the ECB will have to take cognizance of the matter.
